Pemberville's Outstanding Citizen 2010
Alton Beeker

Alton BeekerAlton Beeker has been a resident of Pemberville for more years than most can remember. He has memories and can tell stories of the Leader office, Bob Hummel’s Meat Market, Lee Smith’s Plumbing, Papa’s Sweet Shop and the Main Street Gas Station. His dedication to the village has kept him involved for many years. The renovation of the village and the installation of the sanitary sewer system were projects that were completed with his assistance.

Alton is a member of the Historical Society, a lifelong member of the American Legion and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where he has served on church council. The Pemberville Fairboard has benefited from years of his service and can thank him for being the driving force behind the tug of war for a total of 26 years.

Employed at Sun Oil for 37 plus years, working a small farm on the outskirts of town, operating his own excavating business, visiting shut-ins, and preparing graves has kept Alton very busy over the years. Not to be forgotten is his family. Married to Delores for sixty years this August, they enjoy a large family.

They have four children: Randy, Rick, Rod and Linda. They also have been blessed with 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The village and its residents recognize and thank Alton for his dedication and service.
